About the Governing Board
The Governing Board is the official parent body of the school and concerns itself with issues which
affect the school community as a whole. It is composed of parents, teachers, non-teaching and support
staff, daycare, and community representatives.
The Edward Murphy Governing Board meets monthly. The meetings are open to all parents. There is a question
period during each meeting at which time members of the public may pose questions to the members of the
Governing Board.
A message from the GB Chair
Being a member of the Edward Murphy School Governing Board is for me about responsibility. The
responsibility to take an active role on behalf of all parents, children and staff in the decisions that
shape the school’s educational environment, its policies and the vision for its future. Since first
running for election in 2009, I have had the honour to serve with a dedicated group of fellow volunteers
who share that same commitment. While my initial interest was simply to be involved in my children’s
education, serving on the board has reinforced what I have always believed; that effective and responsible
governance can and does make a tangible difference and is key to future success.
